In the Wildflowers | Family Photography session

Some sessions just feel like a dream when I am shooting them and this was one of them. Every year parts of Northern California bloom in the most beautiful Lupines. You can find them around hill sides, lakes and mountains.  They are a dreamy blue, purple color and when the sun dips below the horizon they become intensely colorful. I had the best time with Mackenzie and her beautiful family and I look forward to shooting the bloom again next year.

Folsom, California is a beautiful location for family photography, and recently I had the pleasure of working with a playful, fun, and adventurous family for a family photography session. We hiked into our location, taking advantage of the beautiful blooming lupines that are a hallmark of springtime in Folsom.

While photographing in nature and especially amongst wildflowers, it’s important to be mindful of preserving the natural environment for future visitors. I always direct my clients to navigate the flowers and stay on the trails to ensure that the flowers are not disturbed.

The family I worked with had a sweet little baby girl who gave some adorable smiles, and the older brother and sister were best friends who interacted and played together beautifully. The mom, Mackenzie, wore a beautiful flowing dress that complemented the blue and purple colors of the lupines, adding a touch of elegance to the images. The rocks stacked in the background provided a nice neutral hue, which balanced out the colorful images.

We captured lots of love and connections between the children and their parents, making for some truly special and meaningful images. The family’s playful and adventurous spirit was reflected in the images, making them not only beautiful but also full of energy and life.
